Illinois is the 18th-best state to live in the country, according to WalletHub’s 2021 Best States to Live In list.
WalletHub compared all 50 states across five metrics covering affordability, economy, education and wealth, quality of life and safety. States were also compared across 52 livability indicators, including housing costs, income growth, education rates and the quality of hospitals.
Illinois came in near the top of the list in quality of life, at No. 3. It also ranked eighth for safety, 37th for affordability, 49th for economy and 20th for education and health.
The Prairie State also ranked fifth for having the most restaurants per capita.
