A friend told me just this morning that he spotted pumpkin spice beverages at our local Dunkin’ Donuts. People, it’s August, which is way too early for pumpkins. And don’t even get me started on all these Halloween decorations rearing their ugly heads. The only good thing about these early signs of fall is that I was able to purchase candy corn. Oh, I guess another good thing about fall heading our way is this new construction issue. But let’s get into the gossip, shall we? Unless you’re drinking a pumpkin spice latte right now, in which case you’re not welcome here.
Mo Dadkhah shaved his beard! I’ve been asking him to do that for a while now, but apparently all it took was a request from his mom as a birthday gift to make it happen. Carrie Jo Little was live tweeting all of the nerdy tech news from NAR’s iOi summit in Seattle. If you weren’t able to make the trip yourself, go ahead and take a look at her Twitter feed to find out what went down. Oh and drop what you’re doing right now and take a look at Sean Cochran of eXp Realty’s rendition of “Friends in Low Places.” I’ve heard Sean is a pretty good agent, but this video proves he may have missed his real calling in life: country singer!
At a recent golf outing — I can’t confirm which because there have been so many this summer and they’re all starting to blur together — Danny Lewis and his friends showed up in matching outfits. And then they were one-upped by Connie Antinou and Diana Ivas, who’d both donned matching Dia de los Muertos shorts. Or was I seeing double?
Party time! CAR hosted an RPAC game night fundraiser at Lagunitas Brewing Company in their fancy basement lounge on August 22 that featured a new spin on an old party favorite. Rather than pinning a tail on a donkey, participants had to stick a Realtor pin on Tommy Choi. The winner (who wasn’t me, but not for lack of trying), received a Lettuce Entertain You gift card. Most of the “pins” ended up on Tommy’s head, and it’s not clear if this was on purpose or not.
Also on August 22, Chicago Agent held their annual golf outing in Lake Geneva. Hey, I bet that’s where I spotted those matching outfits on Danny Lewis and friends. Whoever said drinking and golfing don’t mix may have been correct.
The most recent YPN monthly breakfast was one we could all benefit from, as the speakers focused on time management while attendants enjoyed deliciousness from Manny’s Coffee Shop & Deli. Scheduled speakers included Aaron and Amy Galvin of Luxury Living Chicago Realty and Jon Aleman of hiitide. I have to admit I didn’t make it to the breakfast, because I did not successfully manage my time.
Late summer (not fall) birthdays! Dean Vlamis and Sam Jenkins celebrate Sept. 2, and I wanna give a shout out to Ivona Kutermankiewicz on Sept. 6. TK Khwaja will get another year wiser on Sept. 8, while Larry Steinway, Bob Floss and Dustin Schaff share cool last names and a birthday on Sept. 9. Sara Hulsebus, Reno Manuele, Cory Robertson and Dan Gjeldum should have a big huge blowout to acknowledge their Sept. 12 birthdays, and maybe usher in Paulette Rodriguez to join since hers is the next day. Then Michael Cozzi can have his own cozy party on September 15.
