Free to be, you and me

We’ve arrived, friends, at an interesting issue. All-knowing as I am, I see a lot of things in this industry; I’m everywhere and I know everyone, after all. I hear stories from all sides and while this is no “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” story, the truth is that there are still plenty of places in the real estate business dominated by dudes. So, CA dove in to explore the #NARGirlBoss campaign, take a closer look at leadership in homebuilding, lending and residential brokerage, and more.

Chicago Agent’s 2017 Who’s Who photo shoots are in full swing! I’ve peeked in on shoots at Niche 905, NEXT Apartments and 1001 S. State so far, and I have to say, what an attractive bunch. If those walls could talk they’d have a lot to say! One thing I can report is that one agent was spotted rushing to a photo shoot straight from the ER – that’s dedication.

Hats off to all those agents who attended Kentucky Derby parties and went all out with the proper attire (hats) and beverages (mint juleps). I enjoyed seeing all of those posts of folks getting into the derby spirit. It’s a lot of work to get dolled up for a race that lasts about two minutes, so kudos to all of you.

Andrew Perkins and Terrie Whittaker have joined forces at Dwelling Chicago, a CONLON company. Speaking of Conlon, my tracker wasn’t working this week, so I have no idea where Sean has been hanging out. Perhaps with Andy and Terrie to celebrate the expansion of Dwelling? Or maybe at (gasp) his own dwelling?

Congrats to Niko Apostal of Keller Williams on the birth of his second daughter, Isabella Georgia, who was born on Friday, May 5.
May 11 was Keller Williams Red Day, when the whole company takes off work to do good deeds. This year, 150,000 agents played hooky to help others.

It was another successful year for the Real Estate Rumble! Punches were thrown by Debbie Maue of Jameson, Matthew Koch of Fifth Third Bank, Paul Mancici of @properties, Ryan Underwood from Perl Mortgage and Jesse Coleman of Keller Williams. Watching agents knock each other out for charity has quickly become my favorite event of the year. If I hadn’t spent so much money getting this face and these teeth in tip top shape, I’d consider participating.

On May 20, Belgravia hosted a summer “Riverwalk Kickoff” party. At the event, libations and light fare were served at the Renelle sales center located at 405 N. Wabash. If you haven’t taken a stroll down the new Riverwalk yet, you must get down there ASAP.
Give some May flowers to these spring babies if you get a chance. Glen Tomlinson and Jim Chittaro share a birthday on May 20, while Jamie Franz celebrates on May 21. Amir Syed is celebrating today, May 22, while Juany Monroy-Honeycutt has her big day tomorrow on the 23rd. John Ristau will get the party going on May 24, and Nicole Dyer Sengstock and Steve Biossat will party down on May 27. Last on my list, but far from least, I demand that you buy a drink for Karen Ranquist on May 28.
