Remembering Margery Shinners

by Rincey Abraham

On Tuesday, April 25, 2017, Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® CEO Margery Shinners passed away unexpectedly, according to MORe.

Prior to working at MORe, Shinners worked at Moore Data Management Services and CONDEX Multiple Listing Service. Shinners joined the REALTOR® Association of the Western Suburbs – the previous name of MORe – as the technology director in 1996. She was then named Deputy CEO in 2005 before being named CEO in 2017.

Shinners established MORe’s Global Business Council and led delegations to Springfield, IL, Washington D.C. and around the world to countries such as Prague and China.

“MORe would not be what it is today without Margery’s leadership and influence,” MORe Board President Catherine Terpstra said in a statement. “As great of a loss as this is for us professionally, we’ve all lost a very dear friend. Our grief is felt most deeply for Margery’s husband Brian and her children.”

  • Jack Persin says:

She earned her “Angel Wings” on earth and to echo MORe President, “we lost a dear friend.” Margery made a difference in my life as my friend.

  • Marsha Collins-Mroz says:

Margery will always hold a special place in my heart. She offered me friendship and mentorship without reservation. Her unexpected passing has left a tremendous void in my heart and the hearts of all those that knew her. While we are still numbly going through the motions, I am confidant that our association is fully supported and will continue to flourish thanks to the foresight and care of Margery and our interim, and previously retired, CEO Pam Kreiter.
