Managing brokers: another year, another issue

Before I decided to devote all my efforts to being a real estate enigma, I was a managing broker for a spell. If you want to know more about how to do this as successfully as I have, check the cover story. If you’re here for gossip, stick with me.

Lauren Traficanto was spotted at Tokyo Disneyland recently! Speaking of wanderlust, Sean Conlon is in British Columbia, still filming for The Deed. It’s hard to say which destination I’d prefer, but I think a reality TV show about real estate set in Tokyo Disneyland would take the cake.

It wouldn’t be a Cubs home opener without rain, but that didn’t keep agents from swarming to Wrigley to see the current World Series champs kick off their season at home against the Dodgers. Unfortunately for some, the game fell on the same evening as the first night of Passover. Tough decisions were made. Some of you opted to skip the game in favor of some matzo and a seder, while others just brought along a cup of Manischewitz sweet wine for Elijah.

Who’s Who isn’t only for Chicago! Folks in Miami also like to be seen, and are usually wearing less clothing. This has never been more true than at the 2017 Miami Agent Who’s Who party in Miami on April 12.

Other than that, the big day for events was on April 5, from the north suburbs to the South Side. @properties held a first look VIP event for 1850 Amberly in Lake Forest. Guests perused all that the Amberly condos had to offer while eating snacks and enjoying other refreshments.

Also on April 5, 1001 South State hosted its celebration known as “The Future Is 1001” from 6 to 8 p.m. In addition to building tours, the event featured virtual interactive art, custom fashion portrait sketching, signature drinks, and live action food stations.

Last, but certainly not least, the Southside Builders Association held an event with Arne Duncan speaking at the Erie Cafe. It was nice to see my old buddy Arne, and have a few laughs and catch up. Arne wanted to see a friendly face in the Erie crowd, though as usual I was careful to preserve the mystery of my identity.

More spring birthdays! Nancy Taylor and Steve McEwen share an April 29 birthday, and Marty Winefield will enjoy a nice glass of wine on April 30. We’re already partying with folks who have May birthdays, which makes me wonder where the year has gone. Nicole Fabiano-Oertel, Justin Lopatin and Ed Schwind all share a birthday with Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson on May 2, while Leslie Struthers missed it by a day on May 3. Frank Quintero will celebrate on May 4 and Nykea Pippion-McGriff will party on May 5. Sam Powell and Dave Steidell both celebrate on lucky number 7, while Anthony DeVito gets ready for his big day on May 8. Be extra nice to Danielle Dowell and Eve Benton on their May 9 birthday, please, or else I’m going to hear about it.
