Spring is in the air

Springtime in Chicago means a lot of different things. Rainy weather, folks wearing shorts and flip flops when it’s 52 degrees outside, and, of course, new construction sprouting up all over the city and ‘burbs. I popped by River North recently for some overpriced steak and cocktails, and everywhere I turned a high-rise was growing out of the ground. Fun times to be an agent in Chicagoland if you ask me – which people often do, because I know everything. And because I can’t keep a secret. Which naturally brings me to the gossip portion of your favorite column.

The Deed finally premiered! I DVR’d it, and I’ll get around to watching it at some point. I did hear that CONLON had a little viewing party, complete with cardboard cutouts of Sean’s head as decoration. I wonder what they did with those things after the viewing party…

Also on March 23, Jameson hosted a VIP groundbreaking event for 900 W. Washington. Folks enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and drinks while viewing floor plans and spec samples. The sales team was also on hand to mingle and answer questions. The event was held at a mysterious location that I could share with you, but I’d have to kill you.

The Keller Williams agents have been keeping busy lately, as they also held a “grand opening” event at their Lincoln Park location on March 30. Guests enjoyed food and beverages at 2211 N Elston, in addition to free valet parking!

Of course Tommy Choi couldn’t resist keeping the party going, so the group celebrated again later that evening. There was a full-on candy table, which I think should be a requirement for every real estate event. Judy Gibbons was having a great time rocking out to the music, perhaps because this was her second event of the night, as I also spotted her at the 900 event before at that mystery location.

MORe hosted a Small Brokerage Forum in Downers Grove (shoutout to the DG!) on March 29. Indie brokerages may be small, but they’ve got a lot of spunk. The forum was an opportunity for some schmoozing and networking, as well as a roundtable discussion on topics such as recruiting, hiring techniques and industry updates.

Spring birthdays! Flowers and sunshine (or rain) for all of these folks who got to be born in the spring. Happy birthday to Lauren Mitrick on April 12, and Dennis Shaffer on April 14. I hope Judy Gibbons continues to get her groove on for her April 18 birthday, and David Wolff on April 19. Tommy Choi should buy himself a Rolex to celebrate his big day on April 20, and maybe Ivette Rodriguez Anderson will also treat herself on April 25. Monica Canellis gets to party on April 26, while Sandra Levitin and Stephen Hnatow both get to celebrate on April 27. The next day, Tim Brigham will be in the spotlight on April 28.
