Last week, we reported on the top-selling neighborhoods in Chicago in December, and that once again, the Near North Side came out on top.
Was that the case for all of 2014, though? In short: By a mile!
Using the same numbers from Redfin’s Market Tracker, we found the following about Chicago’s neighborhoods last year:
- The Near North Side saw more than 1,000 sales in 2014 than Chicago’s No. 2 neighborhood, West Town.
- Near North’s sales came almost entirely from condo/townhouse sales, where it saw nearly twice the sales of second-place West Town.
- Lincoln Park was the only neighborhood that had a presence in both the detached and attached housing markets; it boasted the tenth-most detached sales and the third-most attached (and the third-most overall).
- And finally, the strong presence of West and South Side areas confirm just how strongly those areas have grown in the post-bubble marketplace.
