What Chicago neighborhoods ended 2014 with a bang?
Yesterday, we reported that Aurora was Chicagoland’s top-selling suburban housing market in Dec. 2014; what neighborhood in the city proper came out on top in the holiday season?
To find out, we dug through the same numbers from Redfin’s Market Tracker, and the data contained some surprises:
- Near North was once again the top-selling neighborhood, and it saw it sales rise an impressive 25.2 percent from November to December.
- Near North was hardly the only neighborhood to see sales increase, though: in West Town, sales were up 36.14 percent; in River North, they were up 33.3 percent; in Lincoln Park, they were up 19.8 percent; and in Uptown, they were up 37.8 percent, which vaulted neighborhood into the top 10 for December.
- Other new additions in December came on the detached side, where Lincoln Park, Mount Greenwood, Humboldt Park and Clearing all appeared (after not being in the top 10 in November).
