An expected 2,000 runners will take place in Guaranteed Rate's second Disco Dash at Soldier Field.

For the second year in a row, mortgage company Guaranteed Rate is set to host its Disco Dash today at 6:30 p.m.

The company is expecting 2,000 runners to compete at this year’s 5k/10k race, which kicks off at Soldier Field and runs along Fort Dearborn Drive into Lakefront Trail. In keeping with last year’s race, the Disco Dash will once again benefit The Peapod Project, an organization dedicated to supporting and guiding families who have lost a child at a young age.

Touted as “part road race, part ’70s costume party,” runners are invited to don their best 70s disco attire. Upon completion, participants are invited to an actual disco where food, drinks, prizes and live entertainment by local disco group, The Shagadelics, will be provided.

Last year’s dash saw Ryan Jaskiewicz and Meshelle Rich, both from Chicago, take home the top male and female best times at 17 minutes and 57 seconds and 19 minutes and 50 seconds, respectively.
