Rachel Thompson began her real estate career working for agent Robin Miner as a part-time office assistant. After acquiring a basic understanding of the business, she decided to pursue real estate full-time, and since 2004 has worked as a licensed assistant to Miner, who has accounted for more than $250 million in sales in 10 years. After several years at another Chicago brokerage, Thompson and Miner joined @properties in 2007, where they still work today.
A good licensed assistant, in Thompson’s eyes, is professional, responsible, efficient and friendly. As Miner’s assistant, her main responsibilities include marketing, contract administration and scheduling. Educated at Loyola University Chicago, Thompson studied graphic design, and that unique background is especially beneficial when working with the @properties marketing department on brochures, magazine ads and custom mailing. Miner periodically jokes that Thompson is fired, but both know this would never happen – after all, Miner’s success is tied, in large part, to Thompson’s dedication, timeliness and attention to detail.
“I am truly grateful to win Best Assistant. To be acknowledged by my colleagues is an honor and I’m glad my hard work and dedication haven’t gone unnoticed. Since 2004, I have worked as a licensed assistant to Robin Miner, a consistent top producer. During this time, Robin has been an excellent leader and has given me the tools and confidence to excel in my role. I strive to be professional, responsible, efficient and friendly both at work and in my personal life. I hope these are the characteristics that led my peers to nominate me. Working with Robin, a great team and the amazing support staff at @properties contribute to my success.”
