One of the most important things about being a leader is knowing when to cut the fat off of your team. You’ll find a million stories about teams and how great they are, etc., but no one wants to mention that sometimes people can’t be part of a team and thus must be set free (I’m talking about you, TO). You’re not doing anyone any favors by keeping them on when they are simply dead weight. By the way, thanks to my team of spies who help me gather the great gossip every other week. Agent X tries, but just can’t be everywhere all the time.

Lennar Homes has upped their commission to 3.5 percent on all August closings and will be giving away $500 cash to eight winners at four of their showplace communities. I’m a big fan of cash, and quite lucky, so consider one of the winners set.
MCL Companies announced that Amy Settich, formerly with New West Realty and Jameson Real Estate, has joined the ParkView sales team. I feel like it was just a few weeks ago I reported she joined Jameson – hmmm.
Speaking of Jameson, congratulations on your one-year anniversary. The gang celebrated with a block party and BBQ on Aug. 10.
Real Living Helios hosted their West Loop Tour on Aug. 4. I hope that developer who stopped by to take a look is feeling OK after a tumble down the stairs at 1147 W. Ohio. Maybe it was the vodka on the rocks hostess Deena Zimmerman served him before?
New West hosted a broker open on Aug. 6 at 1555 S. Wabash. Lunch and tours of the units were offered, even though poor Terrie could barely move her injured hand.
Join Christina Breuer at Mozart Manor’s Premier Party tonight (Aug. 17) from 5 -8 in Lincoln Square as she toasts the renovated units in the courtyard. No word yet if classical music will flow through the pipes.
REIA will host their Summer Cocktail Party in the outdoor patio at Joe’s Bar on my favorite street in Chicago on Aug. 20. Summer is disappearing fast so take advantage of these outdoor thingies.
Save the date for The Enclave at the Reserve at the Merit Club’s broker open lunch in Libertyville on Aug. 26. Each attending agent is entered into a drawing to win a laptop computer and flat screen TV! A new TV could be the perfect gift for someone with an upcoming birthday.
It’s too late to give Sandra Bercovitz a present since her birthday was on Aug. 10, same with Alma Hampton on Aug. 15. Maybe Steve Bloom would like that TV on Aug. 20, or Karyn Bonder on Aug. 25.
