Living in Luxury

by Chicago Agent

I can’t imagine living in any lap but the lap of luxury, and I am a big fan of laps. Back in the before time when I was an agent, the luxury clients were my favorites. Either they knew exactly what they wanted and wouldn’t settle for less, or they had no idea what they wanted and I could convince them that everyone needs an indoor basketball court with towel warmers. While you read about the gossip, I’m going to go relax in one of my three hot tubs.

This one’s for my new favorite fan Franny – I’m banging a drum for you! The Hot Diggity Dawg lot is still the spot for Draper and Kramer’s 58-story hotel/condo plan since they were unable to sell off their plans to Equity Residential.

The Winnetka Village Council approved a retail and 31-condo residential development at the site of the former Fell Co. clothing store downtown. Condos are planned to start at $800,000. Construction won’t begin until at least 2010, as developer New Trier Partners LLC still needs financing. I’ve got $5 to spare if that helps with the process.

Bank of America recognized their First Customer Day for Countrywide clients at Goose Island on April 28. B of A reps showed up with new cards, e-mails and a new attitude! The conversations were more focused on the Bulls game than the new acquisition.

Jameson hosted their monthly “First Monday” event “Cuatro de Mayo” style serving margaritas and quesadillas. I’d say more, but the tequila did a number on my memory.

CA had their first event in their Real Talk series called Real Mortgage on May 5. People seemed to have a great time, and I hear the CA employees have been enjoying the leftover croissants for days.

Optima Old Orchard hosted a broker breakfast on May 6 to showcase the project. When asked about their 4 percent commission promotion last month, they said most agents took 3 percent and gave the other 1 percent to their buyers. I would’ve kept the full 4 percent, but that’s me.

CFS will host its annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation benefit on May 14 at their office downtown. Nothing really funny to say about that.

Magellan is the title sponsor of a new race called the Magellan Development Chicago Spring Half Marathon, 10K and Junior Dash on Sunday, May 17. Sounds like fun, but the only time I run is when chased.

The Brad Lippitz Group has decided to join Rubloff Residential Properties. I recently learned Brad is an accomplished artist and designer in his own right. Too bad we didn’t know sooner, art director Kevin could’ve used a skilled designer to go get him coffee.

Lots of May birthdays, guess people get frisky when the weather is cold in November. Happy birthday to David Steidell on May 7 and Tony DeVito on May 8. Mom-to-be Katherine Sather celebrated the day of her own birth on Mother’s Day, as did PK Johnson who shares the May 10 birthday. Wish a happy bday to Rosemary Del Cid on May 12, Jake Ehmke on May 13, Shelly Cellak on May 19, Jim Chittaro and Glen Tomlinson on May 20 and Juany Monroy on May 23.
