Let Me Show You the Boom Boom

by Chicago Agent

For all you know, I am a baby boomer myself. I’m not confirming or denying, but I do know that many baby boomers have the best quality you can find in any client: money! You can do all that sensitivity training and learn how to talk to boomers in a way that isn’t patronizing, but if you can’t sell them a new home then what is the point? Just like anyone, these clients want you to tell it like it is, and that’s what I do best.

I hope everyone has recovered from a Fantastic Fourth weekend. Back to the grind is never easy, especially since it seemed like no one actually was working all of last week. Agent X, on the other hand, is always working, so watch out.

The 11th Annual Big Ten Real Estate Forum took place on June 22 at the East Bank Club. The topic was Working it Out — Dealing With Challenged Real Estate Assets. However, now that Nebraska has joined the Big Ten will they change the event name?

On June 24, the Urban Land Institute held their Summer Sizzle Networking Event at Citizen Bar in River North. I spent all night looking for the “sizzle” but had no luck. Though it is summer, so the they got it half right.

Keith Keating hosted a boat tour of Powers Lake up in Wisconsin on June 26 with a boatful of clients sent up by Chicagoland Realtors anxious for that 30 percent referral he’s offering. There were more Illinois plates in the area than Wiscy, but that’s really the norm up there.

Keller Williams Luxury Division hosted a second-home showcase at the Heligoss Gallery with a reception at the Peninsula’s terrace on June 29. At the reception, their National Luxury leader Kathy Neu talked about the referral and marketing benefits of joining the Luxury Division. According to a nameless KW agent, this luxury division will not take 42.5 percent of their referral dough like “that other brokerage with the big blue sign.” Now, who could they be talking about?

Rock Creek Homes’ Henning Estates in Huntley announced they will be increasing the commission to 3.5 percent on all closings before Dec. 31! Take your clients to visit Judy and Daynae – two former Pulte pros – and get yourself that extra moolah before the holidays.

Ownacondo.com is moving to the big city. They will be opening a new office at 540 N. Lake Shore Drive and are actively recruiting.

The two empty offices at the new Mortgage Services locale above Frontera Grill are fixed and ready for two brand-new employees. I heard from a reliable source (Church) that they should be filled in the next couple of weeks. So much for that corner office with a view that should’ve had my name on the door.

Coming up, don’t miss a free seminar on July 8 covering the FHA/HAFA guidelines. The event is hosted by the Asian Association of Realtors of America with key note speaker Maria Pappas, Cook County Treasurer. I’ll be there because it’s free, and because I can never understand any of the FHA guidelines, so it’s about time someone tried to help me out.

Birthdays! Momma Tellock celebrated her birthday in Chicago on June 19 with her favorite daughter. Damion Perry is happy July has begun because his birthday is on the 1st. Rich Rogala might’ve been overshadowed with a birthday on July 3, and Sherri Southall is lucky hers isn’t until July 7. Ken Dooley will celebrate on July 11, and you can Think Glink on July 13 with Ilyce Glink. Last, but far from least, Kim Manning will celebrate her big day on July 16.
