Green With Envy

by Chicago Agent

Finally, after all these years CA is writing about an important topic that affects everyone I’ve ever met in the real estate industry: that big green monster known as jealousy. It’s hard to move forward when the Realtor down the street just sold three condos in one cruddy building and your inexpensive, crisp unit hasn’t moved an inch. When this happens you have to just brush off all that green goop and move forward with – wait. Oh, green like the environment? I don’t have as much to say about that. Go recycle, kids!

Moving on, in Money Magazine’s recent “Best Places to Live” list, Batavia was ranked 53, Buffalo Grove was ranked 65 and Glen Carbon was ranked 91. If anyone can find Glen Carbon on a map I’ll give you something for free. Hey, maybe that’s why it’s so low on the list?

Rubloff announced Prism Development’s 40-story Ritz-Carlton Residences is ready to break ground. While you might think that’s good news, remember the Spire broke ground about two years ago and is still just a hole in the ground.

Jameson’s Sandra Farrell and Paulette Rodriguez hosted a broker lunch at Catalpa Gardens on July 14 showcasing the recently slashed prices in pursuit of FHA financing. Speaking of Jameson, the company recently snagged Jose Colon, one of the top performing commercial agents from Sheldon Good. I wonder if they won him in an auction.

@properties has plans to open new offices in Winnetka, Evanston and another spot that seems to be escaping my memory right now; it used to be a steel trap, but age hasn’t been kind to me.

The 10.6-acre land adjacent to Charlestowne Mall is looking for a new residential developer. The city is set to approve rezoning the land to make it more appealing to a new developer with 20 dwelling units per acre. That’s a good mall folks, I’d jump on that ASAP.

Fresh Horizon Realty hosted their agent appreciation event at Quartino on July 15 where they announced their new bonus structure and projects with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. You can’t lose if your event offers bonuses and cocktails.

Marissa Hopkins, EcoBroker with Coldwell Banker will host a seminar entitled “Steps Toward a Healthier Home” about eliminating toxins to create a greener home at the Midtown Athletic Club in Bannockburn on July 22. There, see? I snuck some eco junk in there.

American Street Mortgage will partner with United Way in sponsoring the 2nd Annual American Streetball Classic on July 25. Proceeds from this charity basketball event will be going to educate, reach out and counsel families at risk. Last year, I went for the autographed prizes they were auctioning off, so I’m hoping they’re going that direction again.

RANWC will host their first “Mini” Golf Outing at Par-King Skill Golf in Lincolnshire on July 28 with proceeds benefiting Helping our Heroes. Is that the same as putt putt? Because if so, I’m there.

Birthdays! Erik Stegemann celebrated his birthday on July 18, and the gal with the best last name around, Jessica Dangles, will celebrate July 23. Damion Perry will party on July 28, while Lauren Komos will stick it out until the 30th to get down.
