Tomazic Receives RE/MAX Humanitarian Award

by Chicago Agent

Teri-Lynn Tomazic, a resident of Batavia and a sales agent with RE/MAX Professionals East in St. Charles, was recently honored by RE/MAX Northern Illinois with its annual Humanitarian Award. The award goes to RE/MAX associates who make outstanding contributions to humankind through philanthropic efforts.

Tomazic was honored for her work to increase understanding of the social issues facing those with HIV or AIDS in third-world countries. She has studied and assisted HIV/AIDS patients in Central America, China and India while earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at DePaul University.

Tomazic, a native of Manitoba, Canada, came to the Chicago area 14 years ago working in the field of mental health. In 1999, she enrolled at DePaul University and in 2003 she earned her real estate license and affiliated with RE/MAX.

Tomazic completed her master’s work last year and is exploring ways to apply her academic and field work experiences to the ongoing battle with HIV/AIDS. Meanwhile, she volunteers with a refugee resettlement effort, helping new arrivals develop essential English language skills.

She also remains in close contact with a home for HIV/AIDS patients in southern India where she carried out her most recent field work.
