Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED) announced today that the company will no longer be offering access to Walk Score in connectMLS and MRED’s Share My Listings (SMyL) widget.

Walk score is a private company that provides walkability services and apartment search tools through either a website or mobile app. The application assigns a numerical walkability score to any address in the U.S., Canada and Australia.

When asked about the decision, Jeff Lasky, the Director of Communications and Training at MRED, said the company doesn’t want to offer products or services to customers that are owned by an MRED real estate brokerage.

“Walk Score was recently acquired by a brokerage that is one of MRED’s customers. Our Board decided that MRED did not want to be offering a product owned by one of our customers,” said Lasky.
