While teaching middle school in the Milwaukee Public School system, Tom Kerr decided to change careers but wanted to continue making a difference and still be face-to-face with people every day. A friend in the mortgage business encouraged him to pursue an employment opportunity in the industry. “Once I realized that I could make an impact on a client’s financial future through homeownership, I was able to see a bright vision for my future,” Kerr says. “I am thankful for my teaching experience as it instilled in me how to interact with people who depend on my expertise and integrity on a daily basis.”

Vice president of mortgage lending with Rate, Kerr has been in the industry for 25 years. Specializing in conventional, FHA, VA and non-QM mortgage loans, he is recognized for giving solid advice, providing true direction and finding solutions to difficult problems. “I believe in building cooperation,” he explains. “I want everyone involved to win and gain what they need with the best solution.”

A two-time member of the Rate President’s Club, Kerr serves on the Milwaukee Chapter for the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals board. He is an active member at Kingdom of Heaven Christian Ministries and is also a member of the Kingdom Apostolic Network.

When not working, Kerr enjoys taking long daily walks with his wife and golfing in his free time.
