Eric Marcotte has a reputation for being a problem-solver, often finding approval solutions for tough files that other lenders gave up on.
Throughout his 22 years in the industry, there’s hardly a lending scenario he hasn’t seen. “When evaluating a borrower’s application, I can make an extensive diagnosis and foresee potential underwriting issues further in the process,” says Marcotte, vice president of mortgage lending with Rate. “There are few, truly clean loan approvals in our business. So, you need an experienced loan officer who knows how to find options and solutions to tackle some of the more challenging projects. Every mortgage lender can close the easy files, but it’s the tough ones that single out the great lenders.”
For the past two years, Marcotte has achieved President’s Club recognition for high production and being in the top 1% of Rate loan originators nationwide. He originates loans in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa, as well as California, Florida, the Carolinas and Tennessee. He’s also trained and certified in reverse mortgages, HELOCs and commercial loans.
“I want my clients to feel stress-free and comfortable during the lending process,” he says. “Buying a home is the largest financial decision one can make, and I appreciate the responsibility I have to conduct it efficiently.”
Marcotte began his career with a retail financing company in Chicago’s south suburbs, spending the majority of his days in collections. Phone calls, mailers and surprise visits were among the tactics he used to collect past due payments from clients before they fell further delinquent. While collections proved that he could be relentless and convincing, he switched to mortgage lending to make a more positive impact in the community.
Marcotte and his wife regularly volunteer with One Brick Chicago and love to travel internationally several times a year.
