You could say banking runs in Blair Michael Robinson’s blood. His father was a commercial lender, as were many of his uncles. “I come from a long line of bankers and lenders,” he says. “We have deep lending ties.”
Those deep ties extend to George Kaiser, the man who hired Robinson as an assistant after Robinson graduated from college. Kaiser worked for Robinson’s father for many years and has been a father figure and mentor. Kaiser taught Robinson the mortgage loan business, and he has been learning from him for the past 16 years.
A loan officer at Wintrust Mortgage, Robinson specializes in jumbo loans and construction financing for the Chicagoland market. A New Trier High School graduate, he was born and raised in the North Shore and now lives and works in Northfield.
Robinson’s most significant professional accomplishment in the past year was finishing first in total volume for the Chicagoland-Illinois market and second in total volume for all Wintrust Mortgage loan officers. He describes his business style as straightforward and direct, and he always utilizes clear communication with his clients. “I take on an advisory role, consultancy,” he explains. “We are not brokers trying to get deals done; we are advisors looking out for the best interests of our clients.”
When not working, Robinson can be found outdoors indulging in his favorite hobbies — golfing and fishing. He’s the proud father of two children, aged 4 and 8.
