Luxury Realtor Janis Hartley says she doesn’t sell — she serves. “Clients know they can count on me for honesty and integrity,” she says. “I believe serving others is a privilege — not a right — and I take that very seriously.”

Real estate is Hartley’s fourth career. Previously, she’s worked as a university instructor and has owned a women’s apparel company, in addition to being a published writer. “Education, communication, discretion, clarification and an ability to discern others’ needs quickly are proximal to my work as a real estate advisor,” she says.

Hartley has an innate sense of property values, but she also has a deep appreciation for all that Southeast Wisconsin has to offer. She has moved frequently over the past 30 years, familiarizing herself with the different communities in and around Lake Geneva. “My children were born and raised in this area, and I have lived, worked and played here for many years,” she says. “I am an inveterate cheerleader of life ‘at the lake.’”

In 2021, Hartley sold over $45.6 million across nearly 50 transactions as an individual agent. As a result, she was recognized as the No. 2 Compass agent in Wisconsin. Additionally, Hartley has been recognized as one of “Milwaukee Real Producers’” top agents in Southeast Wisconsin, and in 2020 and 2021 was ranked in RealTrends top 1.5% of agents nationwide.

A founding member of The Compass Vacation Collective, Hartley works with Compass agents around the country who serve secondary or vacation markets. “Connecting my clients seeking to sell or purchase a secondary or vacation residence to the best of the best across the nation is important,” she says. “I want them to have seamless transactions and an exceptional real estate experience each and every time.”
