Carole Cousin, Broker

@Properties Christie’s International Real Estate

Carole Cousin has always been people oriented. First-time and move-up buyers, luxury sellers and luxury renters sense that about her immediately. That’s why they trust her to help them find the ideal single-family home or condo property. Her in-depth familiarity with the Chicago neighborhoods of Bucktown, Logan Square, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Lincoln Square, River North, Gold Coast and North Center, as well as the suburban North Shore, also benefits her clients.

During her merchandising and management career at Crate & Barrel, Cousin cultivated an eye for design, learned how to spot trends, and developed long-term relationships with vendors and clients. For the past seven years, she’s put those skills to work in the real estate industry. “This skill set is helpful when evaluating properties for sale, presenting them in the best light possible—and also for purchases,” she explains. Many of her referrals come from her previous career, as well as neighbors and past clients. Interestingly, quite a few clients are also fellow dog lovers.

Cousin’s direct professionalism and sensitive nurturing strike the perfect balance with clients. “They often comment that I go above and beyond to make sure I take care of their needs and that they’re happy with their final purchase or sale,” she says. “Clients regularly say I’m positive, knowledgeable, patient, have excellent communication skills and keep them informed during every step of the transaction. They say I’m clear and concise, and candid but kind when helping them resolve any issues that may arise.”

She also emphasizes that putting her clients first sets her apart from the crowd. “I make it all about them,” she says. “I listen closely to their concerns, needs, and desires. I’m also viewed as a very honest broker to work with.”

Two secret weapons are also key to Cousin’s strong client relationships: “I have learned to be their greatest advocate,” she says. “And I’m known for always bringing them chocolate chip cookies!”
