Candace Corr, Broker

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago

When Candace Corr started selling real estate 24 years ago, it was mostly to her neighbors, friends and peer group. Now she finds herself selling many homes to their children.

“It’s nice to keep it all in the family” says Corr, a broker with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago.

Wherever buyers and sellers in the city and on the North Shore want to search for properties, Corr is willing to explore. “I have a keen sense of direction and at all times know where I am,” she offers. “Once you know the benchmark of a city, you can always figure out how far you are and how to get to where you are going.”

An actress when she moved to Chicago in the 1970s, Corr performed at many local theaters, including the Goodman; did bit parts on TV shows, live roles in industrial shows at McCormick Place, and conventions in Las Vegas; and was a “fit model” for clothing manufacturers. This career taught her to learn to read body language and when to encourage discussion and when to be silent and listen. “It is important to be able to hear what is not being said,” remarks Corr.

While searching for a larger home for her growing family, she was encouraged by her then-Realtor to become licensed, and she did just that when her three young children got older. It has been a perfect fit; she loves people and always remembers details of their lives. “If you tell me the date of your birthday,” she says, “chances are I will never forget it.”

Clients appreciate the advice Corr gives them for preparing their home for sale and her knowledge of the current market. She is a four-time recipient of BHHS’ President’s Circle award and has earned its Leading Edge Society award for the past two years.

Corr is grateful that in spite of the delays for homes she had lined up for the market pre-COVID, each eventually closed in a timely fashion. 2020 was one of her most productive years.
