Baker Byrd works with both buyers and sellers across Chicagoland. “To see the joy of a first-time homebuyer when they close never gets old,” says Byrd, a Realtor with d’aprile properties. A Chicago resident since 1994, he’s familiar with almost every neighborhood and loves to dig into the history behind each area. “This is my home, and I try to learn about how certain neighborhoods started and got their names,” he explains. His love of research extends into all aspects of real estate. “I love researching anything and everything,” he shares. “This has helped with pricing of properties on the list side and making knowledgeable offers for my buyers.”

Prior to entering the real estate field, Byrd worked at the Chicago Board of Trade, the Chicago Board Options Exchange and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. “Working at the exchanges helps me to stay calm and not get rattled by much,” he says. His laid-back attitude is evident in his client relationships — until it’s time to advocate on their behalf. “Working with me is fun and easy,” he shares, “until it’s time to get serious working deals for my clients.”

During a stressful process, Byrd’s clients can count on him to lighten the mood. “I truly feel my clients enjoy working with me because of the day-to-day interactions and having fun during the process,” he says. “Hopefully I can relieve stress, especially when clients have to sell before they buy. Lots of moving parts.”

When Byrd isn’t working with his clients, he enjoys golfing, being outdoors and exploring all Chicago has to offer. He considers himself blessed to be able to watch his two college-aged children, a son and a daughter, both flourish.
