Mary Hanburger, Real Estate Broker

Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty

After studying psychology and social work at the University of Kentucky, Mary Hanburger moved to San Francisco to start her professional journey. But while she loved sales, working with people and building relationships, Hanburger knew that her technology career wasn’t the right fit. When she moved back to Chicago to be closer to family, her parents suggested she consider real estate. “I always knew I wanted to work with people and be able to help them in some way,” Hanburger says. “I decided to take the class for fun and see if it interested me, and I was hooked from day one.”

Now a 20-year veteran of the industry, Hanburger has won the Chicago Association of Realtors’ Top Producer award and was a member of the top-producing team in Lincoln Park for eight years. Known for blending professionalism and transparency with personal connections, humor and warmth, Hanburger credits much of her success to Sean Conlon, who mentored her during her early days at Century 21 Sussex & Reilly, as well as to Jim Miller and the leadership team at Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty. “Jameson feels like a big family that will do anything for you,” Hanburger says. “I’ve taken my business to a new level I never imagined, and I am forever grateful to be a part of such a wonderful company.”

But it’s not just Hanburger’s business family that’s had such an impact on her life. Her 10-year-old daughter, Charlotte, who is also her best friend, drives and motivates her to be a better person every day. “As a single mom, I have raised Charlotte with an emphasis on the importance of being a confident, respectful, independent, present and driven woman, and that it’s OK to be fierce while also being kind and thoughtful,” Hanburger says.

A devoted animal lover, Hanburger actively supports Mission Compassion Paw and has adopted five rescue pets. An avid runner, she also enjoys yoga, cooking, baking and dining out.
