Raised on a small livestock farm in central Illinois, Shane Halleman acquired a deep-rooted work ethic. “On a farm, you don’t stop until the day’s work is done,” he says. “Just like in real estate, no two days are the same. You are challenged to prioritize the urgent tasks, but still get done the day-to-day chores.”

Halleman, a broker with john greene Realtor (jgR), learned from spending 13 years in information technology that he was meant to work with people, not computers. “The part of the job I loved was working with users of our software all over the country,” he says, noting providing customer service and support and solving clients’ problems was a highlight.

Assisting buyers and sellers in Naperville and the western suburbs, Halleman recently entered jgR’s 100 Million Presidents Club. In 2014, he ranked No. 152 in Real Trends Top 250 Agents Nationally for Transaction Sides with 171 sales.

Early last year, Halleman showed his ability to adapt to markets outside of his typical market place by assisting an investor with the purchase and resale of 19 homes in Grayslake. “These homes were the remainder of a 59-home portfolio that Waste Management had acquired adjacent to one of their landfills,” he says, noting he had several concerns for both himself and the investor, since Waste Management had been struggling for five years to sell the properties. Undeterred, they set goals for time and sales prices. With a great team rehabbing the homes, they hit the timeline goal and exceeded the financial goal by approximately 50 percent. The project in both its before and after stages was featured in a local business magazine.

“I have the ability to keep people calm in an emotionally fueled real estate transaction,” he says. “Usually it takes looking at the situation from both the buyer’s and seller’s point of view.” He gives first-time buyers patience and education, and sellers and move-up buyers a smooth, stress-free process.

An outdoor person, Halleman enjoys golf and relaxing by the grill. He is also a licensed drag racer and has competed nationally for a number of years.
