Matt Flaherty’s favorite testimonial by far came from a client who made a request for Chase to clone him.

Always professional and grateful for the opportunity to assist clients, Flaherty, a senior home lending advisor with Chase in Chicago, prides himself on being responsive and accessible.  “I make the process clear and straightforward,” he says.  “I treat all clients with respect and care.”

His work ethic has made him a high-volume producer with Chase, consistently placing among the top of the sales team. Flaherty has been with Chase for 13 of his 19 years in the industry.  “I could not have reached this level of success without my assistants, Nick Natale and Melissa Beale,” he says. “They make me look like a superstar every day.”

Flaherty has been a frequent recipient of the Chase National Achiever award, and was honored by the Illinois Mortgage Bankers Association with the 2016 Best Mortgage Loan Officer-Large Bank award, a highlight of the career he has built since graduating from college.  “I was nominated with a high-performing group of my peers, which made this award that much more special,” he says.

Flaherty graduated in 1998 from the University of Virginia with an economics degree, a program he finished in less than four years, and he has worked in banking ever since.

Regardless of all the hours he puts in at work, he has still made time to vacation with his wife Mary in Hawaii the past three years.  “She recently earned a master’s degree in microbiology from Loyola last summer,” he said. “This was a huge accomplishment, as she pivoted from a career as a makeup artist to scientist. We celebrated by growing our family with a puppy — a French bulldog named Yogi.” The couple has lived in Lakeview since 2010.  A Michigan native, Flaherty has called Chicago home for the past 14 years.

Awards are nice, but what makes Flaherty feel most successful is when a client refers him to a co-worker or relative. “I’m fortunate to have been able to develop relationships with entire families or offices,” he says.
