Cheena Chandra considers herself 50/50 in terms of left and right brain. “Real estate matches this combination for me,” she says.

Chandra, a Realtor with Live Chicago Luxury Group of Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty, and her buyer’s agent, Jessica McLean, focus on luxury buyers and sellers in Chicago and the suburbs. “Our client base is 99 percent referral,” Chandra says. “My strong analytical background has allowed me to tap into a strong investor demographic; 30 percent of my business is investors from all over the country.”

A certified negotiation expert, Chandra is a 2016 Top Producer and won the Rookie of the Year in her California brokerage for making great strides in her first year in the business, which followed the stock market crash.

Before real estate, Chandra spent a decade in the corporate realm, traveling the world doing management consulting. She also worked in human resources, marketing strategy and as a process manager before indulging her creative side by designing jewelry that she sold in boutiques across the nation.

McLean, who started as Chandra’s assistant right after graduating from college, moved up to buyer’s agent. She has been able to pursue the strong millennial and first-time home buyer demographics, along with luxury rental clients. To date this year, the team has more than $10 million in new construction under contract and another $5 million in the works with clients. “Jessica closed her first deals this year with first-time buyers,” Chandra says. “She is on her way to being a rock star agent.”

The key to their success is taking the time up front to really understand the impetus for the sale or purchase and keeping that in mind throughout the process. They believe it’s why their business is referral-based.

Joining Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty this year has also proven to be a boom for business. “The decision has been absolute synchronicity for us,” Chandra says. “Our team is cohesive, focused and business is growing in Chicago, Florida and internationally with this amazing global brand.”

Chandra is licensed in Illinois, Wisconsin and Florida, because many of their clients are beginning to invest outside of Chicago and “snowbird” in Florida.
