New Trier High School
New Trier Township High School District No. 203 has the best teachers in the U.S., according to a new analysis from Niche.
Basing its rankings on student and parent reviews of teachers, teacher salaries, teacher absenteeism, teacher tenure and student-teacher ratio, Niche rated New Trier No. 1 in its “Best Teachers” category.
In addition to New Trier, there were several other Chicagoland school districts in Niche’s rankings, including three additional districts in the top 10. They were: Glenbrook High School District No. 225 in Northfield Township (No. 3); Hinsdale Township High School District No. 86 in Downers Grove Township (No. 5); Community High School District No. 128 in Libertyville Township (No. 9); Township High School District No. 113 in Highland Park (No. 12); and Indian Prairie Community Unit School District No. 204 in Naperville (No. 16).

What happened to Evanston Township High School? Evanston, Illinois???
We just checked Niche’s full ranking, and it looks like Evanston’s district did not place; however, that refers to the entire district, not just the high school.
ETHS is the only school in its district.
Now the world knows what we NT kids knew all along.
It was my experience at New Trier East, class of 1978, that there were ample numbers of teachers who had no business being teachers. They didn’t like teenagers, they had low self esteem and anger management issues. I had some teachers who were remarkable and a joy to learn with. However, in my opinion, New Trier is highly overrated.
My father, Jim Warrick, was an esteemed band band director at NTHS for 30+ years. And I couldn’t agree more that this schools gave, at least for the musical students, such a wonderful education.
NTHS’72 prepared me for college and well beyond. Unquestionably, the extraordinary faculty is a large contributor to its student’s success.
Although I thought I left New Trier knowing how to write well, I realized I didn’t know until I got to college (Berkeley) and then I realized I still didn’t know until I got to graduate school (Nevada).
Nina, these rankings are for 2016. 1978 was 38 years ago. Maybe some of the teachers have changed since Jimmy Carter was president and a person could watch “Saturday Night Fever” in Rhodesian movie theater.

So incredibly proud to have my kids in a NT feeder school and at NT! We also went there. But what the heck is Niche? Pardon my ignorance and lack of desire to look it up.
New Trier does give an outstanding education. However, the kids there are spoiled brats who act like they are entitled to everything. Just because mommy and/or daddy has money doesn’t give anyone the right to treat others poorly. They also left out in the artice that New Trier has one of the highest suicide rates. The pressure there is unbelievable. I’m speaking from experience. I happened to be an alum. Even after many of these kids grow up, they still act like a snob. Many luving off j herited money can’t understand that some people live pay check to pay check. Once a snob, always a snob. Send your kids to Evanston where they learn about “real” life instead of a snobby, sheltered, pretentious school like New Trier. Util New Trier kids learn to be nice to everyone, they will always be obnoxious rich kids.
This is the public school district that isn’t good enough for district resident and state-destroying governor Bruce Rauner to send his daughter to. Instead, he bribed her way into Walter Payton magnet school in the Chicago Public District… a district he demonizes. Go figure.
