Rebecca Jensen is an MLS power player. With 43,000 Realtors in the Chicagoland area utilizing the services of the company she presides over and thousands of buyers using the recently launched national consumer-facing search platform Broker Public Portal, it’s safe to say her work has wide influence in the real estate market. Jensen is the president and CEO of Midwest Real Estate Data LLC (MRED).

“The MLS industry is in a constant state of change,” says Jensen, and MRED has consistently proven itself to be a leader in technology innovation and adoption. In 2016, the company became a founding member of The MLS Grid. With Jensen as the board’s chair, the organization is working to streamline MLS data for brokers. “The MLS Grid brings order and efficiency to the use of MLS data,” Jensen says.

Throughout her 19 years in the real estate industry, Jensen has received countless awards and titles including being named to Inman News’ 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders and Swanepoel’s 200 Most Powerful People in Residential Real Estate, receiving the Chicago Women’s Council of Realtors Elevate Award and a 2015 HousingWire Magazine Rising Star Award. She was also named a Utah Business Magazine 40 Under 40 Honoree.

She is also a member of Vistage, the COVE MLS Group, the Upstream MLS Advisory Board and NAR Corporate Investor Council, and serves on the board of the Broker Public Portal and the Council of MLS.

Jensen attributes her success in part to her ability to evaluate and strategize. “I believe in the 80/20 rule,” she says. “It’s vital to identify the 20 percent of action that will derive 80 percent of the value. The best way I’ve found to do this is by listening first, then acting and then verifying that the actions were in fact what was desired.” She also credits “a very talented staff and very progressive leadership on the board.”

When she’s not working, Jensen enjoys spending time with her two sons and watching her husband begin his own career in real estate. “I love seeing him use MRED’s system every day!” she says.
