Marj Carpenter
Broker
RE/MAX Unlimited Northwest
The kind words of appreciative clients never fail to motivate Marj Carpenter, and judging by her list of accomplishments, there have been plenty of kind words over the years. A 25-year veteran of the real estate industry, Carpenter has earned a spot in both the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and RE/MAX Platinum Club. She has also earned the RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement Award. As one of the top 20 agents in McHenry County, she has been named one of America’s Best Real Estate Agents each of the past three years. In addition, she ranked No. 22 among RE/MAX of Northern Illinois Realtors in the first part of this year. “I love helping buyers and sellers make their dreams come true,” she says, and that passion motivates everything she does.
While Carpenter’s path to success may seem a bit unconventional – she added a real estate course to her roster of college courses at close to the last minute – the road has been paved with hard work and determination to serve her clients to the best of her ability. A former dairy farmer, she believes that experience prepared her for what it takes to make a name for oneself in this industry. “It taught me the value of a strong work ethic, and that’s made me more willing to put in the long, hard hours others might find challenging,” she explains.
A Certified Relocation Specialist, Certified Negotiation Expert, and Graduate of the Realtor Institute, Carpenter primarily serves repeat clients, but also has expert knowledge of supporting first-time buyers and sellers. She is well-known for her candor and truthfulness, which clients find comforting. “They know I respect them enough to be honest with them, and that gives them confidence. They know I have their best interest at heart.”
In her time away from the office, Carpenter is an avid sportswoman. After building up her endurance as a runner, swimmer, and cyclist, she recently completed her first Half Ironman. Though she has summited Mount Kilimanjaro – the highest peak in Africa – and visited Antarctica, Carpenter says that being a mother and grandmother trumps all. Her career in real estate is icing on the cake. “Being an excellent Realtor is what really makes me feel like I’m on top of the world, even when I’m not 19,000 feet above sea level!”
