Lyn Harvie
Broker
Baird & Warner
Lyn Harvie made an unexpected move after she earned her real estate license four years ago. “When I was first licensed, I wanted to invest in real estate, not be a full-time broker,” she says. Now, highly successful for doing what she does so well, Baird & Warner recognized Harvie last year as a top producer, and honored her with its Vice President’s Club award. “This is an exciting time in Chicago real estate,” says Harvie. “Even though clients can find information on the internet, a Realtor brings confidence to a transaction that eases worries and limits risk, and that’s valuable for our clients.”
Harvie launched her real estate career when she assumed clients from a broker who needed help. She quickly fell in love with the profession. “I realized this was something I could be successful doing while still giving back to others,” she says. Helping people has always been what drives Harvie, who holds a doctorate in physical therapy. “You might not think that background could prepare one for a career in real estate, but it allows me to offer a unique perspective when clients go through stressful times,” she explains. “I tell them it’s not life or death; we just need to take a breath and work toward a solution.”
Harvie is especially skilled in educating buyers at each step of their transaction, and helping sellers market their home. She serves a myriad of clients, including first-time buyers, upgraders, empty nesters, and investors, but her approach is consistent. “I’m very methodical and results-driven,” she says. “What’s most important is being proactive and highly communicative, because that helps us stay ahead of potential challenges and ensures we’re always on the same page.” She describes her role as the rudder and keel of a ship, keeping it going in the right direction while maintaining balance, especially when the course seems rocky.
The daughter of immigrants who moved to America when she was 15, Harvie thanks her parents for their bravery and willingness to sell everything they owned to give her and her sister a better life in the U.S. “I will be forever grateful for their sacrifice,” she says, “and I’m determined to live my life in a way that shows them their decision was not in vain. One way she does this is through active participation in the Junior League of Chicago, which allows her to make a difference in her community. Her passion for Chicago is equally apparent in her career as a Realtor. “My clients tell me they can sense my love for what I do and my genuine concern for their wellbeing,” Harvie says. “That’s the best compliment I could ask for!”
