A former NFL player for the Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills, and Indianapolis Colts, David Porter knows firsthand how far determination, grit, and above all, teamwork can take one in life. A graduate of the University of Iowa, David joined a manufacturing company after his tenure in the NFL. He worked his way up from salesperson to vice president, a journey that taught him the value of attention to detail and process optimization.

Porter has leveraged these unique experiences to develop some serious real estate chops. His friendly, calming demeanor puts clients at ease from the get-go. “The buying or selling of a home can be a stressful process,” he says. “Clients need to be confident in their broker’s ability to implement a strategy tailored to their specific needs to guide them through the buying and selling process.” David knows that in this business, a relaxed manner and honest, direct approach can go a long way.

Porter prides himself on making the buying and selling processes as simple, streamlined, and stress-free as possible. His tech-savvy team provides his clients with various tools and resources that translate the complicated world of real estate into easy-to-understand terms, and Porter always goes out of his way to make sure his clients feel as looped in as possible. He knows that for many of his clients, the time with him will culminate in some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. He does not take that lightly, and indeed, the ability to help his clients achieve their dreams of homeownership is what he says inspires him most about working in the industry.

Clearly, his direct, client-first approach has been paying off. Porter fondly recalls one of his favorite real estate achievements: selling a penthouse before going to market for 10 percent above the asking price. He closed the deal in just 20 days.

When he’s not working, Porter’s favorite pastime is daddy-daughter movie night.  “I do not always enjoy the movie, but I always enjoy the company. My daughters are my barometers, and they keep me sane,” he says. “Having time to spend with them is one my most precious treasures.” Though he loves Chicago and has lived in the Lakeshore East community for more than a decade, David was born in Germany to parents in the Army, and as such, has developed a deep love for travel. He especially relishes the opportunity to meet and learn from people of different cultures and walks of life.
