Tony Lupescu’s years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant uniquely position him as a lender. “I don’t have to wait for an underwriter to tell me what income can be used for a borrower and I can determine the income of any borrower regardless of how difficult his tax return may appear,” he says. As a result, referral sources like the Realtors with whom he partners can have full confidence in knowing that their clients are qualified buyers. A mortgage expert for the past 11 years, Lupescu has closed more than 2,000 loans, addressing all types of problems that can arise during the process. His stellar skills have earned him the honor of being Fifth Third Bank’s Number 1 producer in the country for both purchase volume and total volume funded for the past two years.

Even though he enjoyed a successful accounting career, Lupescu’s decision to transition to home financing stemmed from his desire to work more directly with people, an opportunity that the real estate industry afforded. In addition to helping individuals secure financing, a significant aspect of his work is strategically structuring financing in a way that meets their specific needs. “Any loan officer can give a monthly payment plan to a client, but not every loan officer can figure out how to tailor that plan so that the client feels comfortable and ready to take the next step of home ownership,” he explains. Lupescu particularly likes thinking outside of the box to craft innovative solutions to seemingly complex lending challenges. “I regularly have clients referred to me who were denied by other lenders and I enjoy trying to find a way to make their loan work.”

Lupescu has structured mortgages for first-time buyers, high net worth individuals and doctors who participate in Fifth Third Bank’s physician loan program. He also supports buyers who do not speak English, thanks to his multi-lingual team. In fact, he credits his team for his high production because they work so well together, making the process seamless for their clients. “My clients know they can call my office and speak to my team and get the same information from them that they’ll get from me,” he says, “and having everyone on the same page from start to finish makes all the difference.”
