For 30 years, Debra Dobbs has been working with buyers and sellers across a broad spectrum of property types and price points in Chicago’s Near North neighborhoods. Year after year, Debra has been the recipient of such coveted awards as the Platinum Award and the Chicago Association of Realtors’ Outstanding Sales Achievement Award, and is a long standing, elite member of the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing. But it is the everyday victories, struggles and life lessons that have made her experiences invaluable and earned Debra the unwavering trust of her clients.
“A significant turning point in my career occurred when I handled a particularly difficult negotiation that transpired over a three-month period,” she says. “Both the buyer and seller credited me with keeping them at the negotiating table, and said the deal closed only because I remained focused, committed and confident in managing the negotiating process. I learned to listen to what is not said, and to remain aware of that which is communicated in both verbal and in non-verbal ways.”
Dobbs has multiple designations obtained through post-licensing education, including The University of Illinois’ Fundamentals of Urban Real Estate and Graduate of the Realtor Institute. Education, experience and spot-on instincts provide Dobbs the foundation to be the fierce and knowledgeable advocate her clients know her to be. Additionally, the current member and former president of the Women’s Council of Realtors believes that working with a variety of clients has kept her challenged, curious and motivated.
“I recently represented three condo purchases at the iconic Benjamin Marshall Building, one of my favorite buildings in Chicago,” Dobbs says. “Currently, I’m working with two rapidly growing Chicago companies to assist their employees with finding new housing in Chicago, and also designing several innovative business development initiatives, including a comprehensive first-time homebuyer program and a website highlighting The Chicago 77, which focuses on the unique character of Chicago’s 77 community neighborhoods.”
Dobbs’ commitment to customer satisfaction is consistently recognized by her clients and peers, and culminated in her receiving the “Five Star Real Estate Agent” award. Debra believes that “there is no force equal to that of a determined woman,” and this philosophy has certainly contributed to her incredible success thus far.
