Two decades ago, a career in lending was not on Jamie Franz’s radar. But when the Brookfield, Wisconsin, native shifted from IT consulting, he realized that lending presented the perfect blend of flexibility, problem-solving and the personal connection he craved.
“While IT offered intellectual challenges, it lacked the direct connection to people that I sought,” he recalls. In contrast, lending gave him the opportunity to make a real difference by helping individuals reach their goals.
Franz’s tech background improved his skills in problem-solving and adapting to change. Currently a senior vice president and producing regional manager at Rate, he oversees teams in Chicago and Wisconsin, specializing in introducing innovative strategies to referral partners and coaching loan officers to scale their business. “The problem-solving, analytical skills and attention to detail I developed in consulting have translated directly into my ability to assess loan applications, manage financial data and streamline processes,” he explains.
Known for his approachable demeanor and tailored guidance, Franz ensures every client feels supported throughout the process. “They value my nonjudgmental approach, which helps create a comfortable environment for open conversations,” he shares. His proudest accomplishment is helping his team leverage Rate’s technology to expand their business while gaining more personal time for their families.
A University of Wisconsin-Madison alumnus, Franz is a lifelong and proud supporter of the Wisconsin Badgers, the Green Bay Packers, and the Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks. Outside of lending, he and his wife, Cari — along with their two kids, Kayli and Dylan — have become passionate advocates for animal adoption after adopting their own dog, Badger. They often can be found dedicating their time to raising awareness and supporting local shelters in need.
