Sam Shaffer
Managing Broker/Owner
Chicago Properties
Clients know Sam Shaffer for the “white glove service” they get with his real estate company, Chicago Properties. As owner and managing broker, Shaffer brings 15 years of industry experience to the table. His clients run the gamut from fist-time buyers to luxury clients, and he treats every client with the same candor; accessibility, honesty and transparency are all traits that he prides himself on, he says. He works in numerous markets throughout Chicago, ranging from the Gold Coast, West Loop, Bucktown, West Town, Wicker Park, Logan Square, Lincoln Park, Roscoe, Lincoln Square, Old Town, all the way north to Andersonville. His biggest sales accomplishment last year, he says, was closing over $50 million in sales and closing in on 300 five-star client reviews on Zillow and Yelp.
Shaffer didn’t always have a career in real estate. “My first career out of college was working with kids and running camps,” he says. “After spending almost four years in the not-for-profit sector, I started working in the dotcom space selling Internet adverting and marketing.” Shaffer made his move into the real estate industry, attracted by the opportunity to “be his own boss.” He has consistently recognized as a Top 1 Percent Realtor in Chicago by the Chicago Association of Realtors and is a member of both the Chicago and National Associations of Realtors.
When he isn’t assisting clients, Shaffer may be found at a Crossfit gym — a hobby he has been into for the past five years. He is also involved in charitable organizations. “I’m actively involved in fundraising for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation,” he says. “Last year I raised over $15,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.” He also is a passionate team player, within his own company and without. “I love mentoring and managing agents in my office,” he says. “I also know there is enough business for everyone in the industry and don’t view the other agents as competition, but more as people who I can collaborate with to better service the client.”
