Bob Carr
Senior Vice President of Residential Lending
Draper and Kramer Mortgage Corp.
Sixteen years ago, Bob Carr and his wife Melissa applied for a loan on their new home. While some find the mortgage process bewildering, Carr was fascinated and intrigued by the multi-faceted industry. Today, he is a senior vice president of residential lending at Draper and Kramer Mortgage Corp. In his role, he specializes in assisting first-time buyers and buyers moving from the city to the suburbs as well as handling second home and investment property financing. He has an extensive network of satisfied past clients and their referrals.
Part of Carr’s success is his keen ability to work with all of the different stakeholders necessary to secure a loan for a client. “There are a lot of parties involved during a transaction, including the client, agents, attorneys and all of the internal people working on getting the loan done,” he says. “I try to harness the emotions involved and apply them to tasks like problem solving and closing the loan.”
Carr also manages his clients’ expectations and concerns by taking the opportunity to inform them about the process of getting approved for a mortgage. For Carr, knowledge is power — a power he is eager to share with his clients so they can make informed decisions. “People don’t wake up one day and decide they are going to learn about mortgages,” he says. “There are a lot of details, and I’m happy to educate people about the process as we go through it together.”
While passionate about his work at Draper and Kramer Mortgage Corp., part of what Carr loves about his role is that it affords him ample time to be with his two children in a way that other jobs would not. “I’m proud to be able to spend a lot of time watching my kids grow up and sharing time in their activities,” he says. “I am still responsible for my business, but the flexibility of this career gives me an opportunity I may not have in the corporate world.”
