The 3-on-3 American Streetball Classic, led by Rate loan officer Sharbel Shamoon, returns to Chicago on Aug. 8 to benefit Cubs Charities.
Supported by Chicago Bears defensive end Austin Booker, the event will also feature guest appearances by former Chicago Bears legends Jerry Azumah and Israel Idonije.
Since its inception, the American Streetball Classic has raised between $10,000 and $20,000 each year for organizations such as United Way, LUCHA, The Night Ministry, Imerman Angels and The Big Shoulders Fund.
This year, proceeds will support Cubs Charities, which is the charitable arm of the Chicago Cubs. Through sports-based youth development and academic programming, investments in safe places to play and strategic grantmaking, Cubs Charities helps create opportunities for young people across Chicago.
“Cubs Charities envisions a more unified and thriving Chicago where all youth, families and communities have an equal opportunity to achieve their highest potential both on and off the field,” said event organizers. “The Streetball Classic shares that vision, using sport as a catalyst for positive change.”
The game will take place at Flames Athletic Center, located at 839 Roosevelt Road in Chicago. Registration, sponsorship opportunities, volunteer positions and donation information are now available.
