Publicly traded multifamily landlord AIMCO agreed to sell Hyde Park Tower and six other Chicagoland apartment complexes for $455 million.
The 1,495-unit portfolio also includes Elm Creek and Eldridge Townhomes in Elmhurst, Willow Bend in Rolling Meadows, Evanston Place in Evanston, and Yorktown and 2200 Grace in Lombard.
The disposition is part of a broader plan of liquidation that the company announced in November. AIMCO sold five Boston-area communities to Harbor Group International for $740 million in September.
With the sale, which is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, AIMCO will no longer own apartments in Chicago. Net proceeds, which will be distributed to AIMCO shareholders as a special dividend, are expected to be about $160 million.
LaTerra Capital Management and Respark Residential are the buyers.
