What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
I marketed and sold homes in a 55-and-over community. My position included activities as well. At the time, I was in my mid-30’s. I had a blast hanging out with all the residents.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up on the South Side of Chicago. As a kid, we walked everywhere. The mall, the park, school, etc.
Growing up, what did you want to be?
That is a great question! I wanted to be a nurse. Spent my high school years volunteering as a candy striper at Holy Cross Hospital on the South Side. Even went to nursing school for a year, but realized quickly I loved people but not the medical side of it.
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
I love to read and shop online. I am definitely a stress online shopper!
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Ryan Serhant is for sure someone I would like to meet. His story is empowering and impressive. He built his empire based on hard work and determination. Proof that no matter where you start, there are no limits.
What is Chicago’s best-kept secret?
I would say it is the out-of-the-way restaurants and bakeries, the ones located in areas no one expects.
What do you love most about the industry?
Getting to know like-minded agents. Being involved in committees locally and state level. I love learning and sharing that knowledge with my agents.
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
I would absolutely say I distinguish myself with the customer service I give. From day one, I knew I wanted to make a difference. I just didn’t want to sell real estate. That may sound cliche, but I really wanted to build a reputation based on care, honesty and educating clients.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Balance. Isn’t that the issue for all of us?! You want to be available when your clients need you. But how do you make time for family, friends, rest, fun and so on? I have been working on this for 20 years. One of the reasons I achieved such great success is by being available. So this will always be the most difficult aspect.
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
I teach my agents the best way to generate new leads is to talk to people who already know you. Don’t be afraid to ask them to help you reach your goals. Don’t be afraid to ask them for their business, for referrals, for contacts. They want you to succeed. You just need ask for their help.
What has been your greatest accomplishment?
Professionally, my greatest accomplishment is building my brand. I started this early in my career by giving exceptional service, showing people I truly care and being grateful for the business I received. Then, in 2017, I opened my own office, leaving a national brand. Eight years later, we continue to be No. 1 in our town and one of the top agents in our county. Our office believes in community involvement, and we raised over $13,000 for a local charity last year. We volunteer, donate and sponsor events. Giving back is at the heart of our office.

I am listening to The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins

The Wrigley Building has always been one of my favorites.
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
Hmmmm, well, someone accidentally sent me pics that were meant for her boyfriend…
What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
I am a horrible driver. My close friends will tell you that I cannot talk and drive. I speed up and then slow down based on the conversation. This also leads to missing exits. On the plus side, friends often offer to drive!
What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
I absolutely love to travel. I have many favorites. Last summer we went to Switzerland. It was so breathtakingly beautiful! I highly recommend putting it on your list.
