Chicago is the No. 2 alternative relocation destination in the U.S., according to a new study.
The study by Remitly analyzed Google search data, excluding capitals and the most-common destination spots, such as New York City and Los Angeles.
Chicago compared favorably to other cities due to its lower cost of living while offering high-level education, jobs and public transportation.
Kansas City was No. 1 on the relocation study, followed by Chicago, Seattle, Miami and Charlotte, N.C.
Chicago was the top choice as a relocation destination in 10 states. They are: Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, South Carolina, Texas and Vermont.
The top relocation destination for people in Illinois is St. Louis.
