Chicago’s share of luxury listings ranks in the top 15

by Emily Mack

High-end amenities, an urban locale, a spacious estate … there are many ways to define a “luxury” listing. However, a price point of $1 million seems like a good place to start. That’s how Point2 considers luxury in a recent study.

The real estate trend site compared the share of luxury listings across the 30 largest U.S. cities — and Chicago is among the top 15.

Coming in at No. 15, the Windy City’s share of listings over $1 million is 16.7%. For listings over $5 million, though, that number drops to 1%. The city also has a median price of $335,000.

The full list of the top 15 large cities includes:

1. Los Angeles
2. San Francisco
3. San Jose, California
4. San Diego
5. Boston
6. New York City
7. Seattle
8. Denver
9. Washington, D.C.
10. Austin, Texas
11. Nashville, Tennessee
12. Dallas
13. Phoenix
14. Portland, Oregon
15. Chicago
