Jim Barcelona is vice president of brokerage services and managing broker for @properties Christie’s International Real Estate. In the role, he spearheads @properties’ brokerage operations and business development in Chicago’s western suburbs.

Since joining the firm in 2018, Barcelona has helped open and oversee offices in Downers Grove, Elmhurst, St. Charles and Naperville. He has also played a key role in @properties’ expansion into Northwest Indiana. Through his recruiting efforts, Barcelona has helped generate over $1 billion in new sales volume for the company.

A native of Hinsdale, Barcelona grew up in a real estate family. He began selling real estate in 1999, as a commercial broker, and spent 11 years specializing in multifamily investment sales. In 2011, he joined Burr Ridge’s BankFinancial as vice president of REO and nonperforming assets, where he oversaw the management and disposition of nearly $200 million in distressed properties and loans. Barcelona transitioned to residential real estate in 2013 and draws upon the depth of experience to assist all his agents.

Barcelona coaches with a positive mindset and practical business-building measures, using frequent communication to help agents stay accountable to their goals. His agents appreciate his willingness to roll up his sleeves to navigate them through transactions — as well as his ability to step back and support them to reach their highest potential.

Barcelona is also a member of the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® and a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He lives in Naperville with his wife, Lily, and their children, Elena and Vince.
