NAR launches mentorship program

by Stacy Carchman

The National Association of Realtors is reaching out to Realtors in underserved areas with a new mentorship program, according to a press release.

The NAR Spire mentorship program, which pairs mentees with experienced Realtors, aims to help Realtors in marginalized communities where homeownership is harder to attain and people have historically been left out of the real estate industry.

The program has been launched in nine pilot states with plans to expand. The mentee will receive training in day-to-day business operations, such as marketing, appraisal, IT and financing. They’ll also attend live events and mentorship meetings.

“So many Realtors have at some point had a mentor step into our lives, invest in our careers and shape our success as professionals,” Bob Goldberg, NAR CEO, said in the press release. “Now, we want experienced NAR members to pay those advantages forward to the individuals who will shape U.S. real estate in the decades ahead.”

NAR is looking for mentors in Chicago; Seattle; Baltimore; Memphis; Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina; Rochester, New York; Washington, D.C.; and Trenton, New Jersey. Applications can be found on the NAR website.
