Business planning 2021

It’s hard to believe that 2021 is here, but it’s a new year and time for new beginnings! Sure, January in Chicago may be cold and grey, but it also signifies a year of possibilities. And after everything 2020 threw our way, we’ve all come out stronger, and now it’s time to put in the hard work again.

Most agents are independent contractors, and this means that it’s crucial that every agent have a cohesive business plan for the year ahead to guide them. From coming up with a comprehensive budget and a clever and well-thought-out marketing plan, to growth projections and possible challenges, a successful business plan has numerous components that agents need to follow.

In this issue, we rounded up strategies from three Chicagoland real estate agents who are personal experts in business planning, and who other agents in their respective offices turn to. Their own methods of business planning, expert insights and actionable tips are inspiring, and you’re sure to learn a new trick or two from reading about it.

Here at Chicago Agent, we are making our own plans for 2021. After years of producing 26 issues each year, we are moving to 12 issues, plus our special issue, Who’s Who in Residential Real Estate, which publishes in August. And we are making other changes, too! We hope you enjoy the new look, and new features such as our new column called Top Coach, where each month you’ll get expert advice from a leading real estate coach, and Association News, kicking off with an article by CAR CEO Michelle Mills-Clement.
