The 1950s backyard bunker trend has resurfaced, bringing with it a renewed desire for modernized panic rooms. Consumers are pouring a great deal of money into high-tech safe rooms with ballistic fiberglass-reinforced walls, Kevlar-lined doors, bullet-proof windows and high-end alarm systems. Unfortunately, paranoia comes at a price, with such rooms costing as much as $1.5 million.
