Shokhan Mataibekov, an architecture group in Astana, Kazakhstan, is turning the city’s long winters into an apartment amenity at the proposed House Slalom with an outside 1,000-foot ski slope running from the top of the 21-story housing complex to the ground. The ski slope would be constructed of Snowflex, a synthetic material meant to simulate the feeling of real snow, and skiers would get to the top via a chairlift. If approved by city officials, the complex would likely be open to the public, not only apartment residents.
