Turns out, it pays to be a vegetarian or vegan in the Washington area. Jinesh Varia, a vegetarian himself, is offering a $200 discount on the $2,200 monthly rent for his 1,566-square-foot townhouse to a renter who pledges to be vegetarian or vegan. Varia believes that, just like the ‘no smoking’ policy that many landlords have implemented over the years, by promoting a meat-free lifestyle, he will spread awareness for the “ethical and moral” importance of vegetarianism.
