We keep hearing that the nation’s serious delinquency rate has fallen, but what does its overall trajectory look like?

The other week, news broke that the nation’s serious delinquency rate, as measured by Fannie Mae, fell to 2.13 percent in April. Though still double the historical averages, that’s the lowest rate since November 2008.

Such a decline, though, got us wondering – just how far has the serious delinquency rate fallen from its peak? To find out, we dug through Fannie Mae’s old housing reports and put together the following chart.

The takeaway? It’s been an absolute roller coaster ride for serious delinquencies!
