What were the top-selling suburbs in Chicagoland, last month?

A few days back, we wrote about how several market trends are pushing down home sales in the Chicagoland area, with low inventory and the falling market share of distressed sales being the chief culprits.

Of course, some suburban communities performed better than others, and courtesy of stats from Redfin, we’ve assembled our monthly infographic on the top-selling suburbs in Chicagoland. Some interesting things we uncovered:

• Aurora was once again on top of the pack, but it and other suburbs showed a marked decline in home sales; for instance, Aurora sales were down from 158 in December to 118 in January, and sales in Joliet were down from 151 to 92.
• Des Plaines had the same detached home sales month-to-month, but with how sales fell in other communities, that was good for the most detached sales in the region.
• And finally, having the most home sales did not necessarily translate to the most impressive market stats. For instance, 21 percent of Aurora listings sold above list price, compared with just 7 percent in Naperville; at the same time, though, Aurora saw 22 percent of its listings go off the market in two weeks or less, compared to 37 percent in Schaumburg and Arlington Heights.
